Participants gain access to a full suite of fabrication technologies and maker tools — from 3D printers and laser cutters to hand tools and digital design software. Under the guidance of experts in engineering, design, and programming, teams will conceptualize, prototype, and refine their ideas within a single day. The focus is on learning by doing, with every iteration helping participants deepen their understanding of design thinking, problem-solving, and interdisciplinary teamwork.
RAT Hack is built around the philosophy of shared learning. It’s an open platform where students, educators, and industry professionals collaborate as equals. By allowing any platform and providing sample materials, RAT Open ensures that schools with different resources can participate. The competition is designed to be accessible to beginners while still challenging for advanced teams.
