First event under the RAT Foundation
Yesterday we hosted the very first event under the RAT Foundation — Robotics, Automation and Technology for Education Foundation — at St Andrews International School Bangkok!
This inaugural event, the RAT Open, is a purely autonomous, open-platform robotics competition — meaning teams can use any robotics kit they choose, making it one of the most exciting and inclusive robotics experiences out there.
Watching students build on the spot, code on the spot, problem-solve, and iterate in real time was truly inspiring — something rarely seen in other robotics competitions.
The day was structured with practice sessions in the morning, followed by a score reset for the qualification round in the afternoon. During qualifications, students had unlimited attempts to autonomously climb the Helter Skelter structure, aiming to collect game objects at the summit.
Feedback from the event was exceptional, and we’re deeply grateful to everyone who attended and contributed to making the competition a success.
Other exciting highlights included our custom-built apps and real-time scoring system in action. the launch of our new website and school database for institutions across Asia
Looking ahead, our next event is in May 2026, where we’ll unveil Phase Two of the open platform challenge: The RAT Run. This fully autonomous challenge introduces a secondary robot that must navigate moving obstacles to reach the finish line in the fastest time!
