Eight years of VEX at St Andrews Bangkok

Every VEX event at St Andrews International School Bangkok over the past eight years — the annual VIQRC and V5RC qualifiers, the scrimmages, the Signature Events, the Thailand Cup — has been hosted and run by Rob Parker and Matthew Bonnell, the team behind the RAT Foundation.

In February 2025 the school made the relationship formal. In St Andrews' own words: “In February 2025, we partnered with the RAT Foundation, a non-profit organisation dedicated to running STEM and robotics events across Asia.”

The school's own news pages tell the story year by year: hosting the VEX Nationals in 2021/22, 56 teams at Rapid Relay in November 2024, and the High Stakes Thailand Cup in February 2025 — run, in their words, “in collaboration with the RAT Foundation”.

The scale of that partnership showed at the Thailand Cup in February 2026: 61 VEX IQ team entries from 17 schools and 26 V5 entries from 10 schools in a single day, with the V5 tournament running as a sanctioned charity event — the St Andrews RAT Cup on RobotEvents.
